SUMMARY

The Service Technician is responsible for the testing, maintenance and repair of low and medium voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motor control and other electrical apparatus in the shop and in the field.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performs testing on low and medium voltage breakers including Megger, Ductor, Hi-Pot, Hi-Current, and Timing tests.
  2. Completes mechanical work and repairs on breakers, including tear down, refurbishment and parts replacement.
  3. Paints breakers and parts.
  4. Wiring of circuit breakers.
  5. Utilizes and accurately reads meters.
  6. Reading schematics and wiring drawings.
  7. Troubleshooting of circuit breaker controls.
  8. Reading and plotting time-current curves.
  9. Testing of power and current transformers, including Power Factor and TTR.
  10. Accurately and consistently documents using Power DB.
  11. Able to work with electrical tools and socket sets
  12. Able to keep to job schedules
  13. Able to accurately complete testing forms

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to perform keying functions, grasp and pinch to write.  The employee will frequently (34-66% of the workday) be required to sit, walk and stand.  Occasionally (6-33% of the workday), the employee will be required to bend, twist/turn, reach out, lift/carry and push and pull.  The employee infrequently (2-5% of the workday) will be required to squat/kneel and climb.  The employee is required to infrequently (2-5% of the workday) lift and carry up to 21-50 pounds and will frequently (34-66% of the workday) be required to lift and carry 50 pounds up to 100 yards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly subject to various job site environments.  The flooring is mostly concrete, tile or wood.  The temperatures at the customer locations can vary between 0-100 degrees.  The use of safety equipment can include FR rated clothing, safety shoes and glasses, hard hat and other job specific personal protective equipment.  The noise level of the work environment can vary from low to high (requiring hearing protection).  Travel requirements will make it necessary to drive a car (day and/or night) and at times travel by air.  This position can require up to 80% travel – particularly where the element of the on-site training is involved.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience: 3-5 years related experience in Power Plants, Industrial Services, primary power distribution and related protection and control schemes.  Minimum 2 years of industrial or commercial power systems experience.
  2. Reasoning Development: Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only a limited standardization exists.
  3. Mathematical Development: Ability to add, subtract, and divide all units of measure. Able to perform computations involving power.
  4. Language Development: Ability to read company manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; speak with poise and confidence, using correct English.
  5. Licensures and Certifications: NETA 2,3, or 4 required
  6. Education: High School Diploma.

SUMMARY

The Operations Manager of a CE Power Solutions Service Location is responsible for the overall performance of the division location including job costing, safety, employee reviews, and operational issues.  The incumbent is responsible for establishing a close working relationship with the Sales Executives, Sales Manager, Operation Manager’s from all CE Power locations and all corporate support personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations

  1. Assesses job specific manpower needs and coordinates assignments with lead field technicians. Ensures core technical requirements for each job are clearly understood and technicians are appropriately assigned to projects by matching their knowledge, skill, and abilities to project specifications.
  1. Actively communicates with other department to assure activities are properly coordinated. Receives technician reports and updates administration for follow up, prepares weekly production status reports, attends production meetings, and works with sales team to create sales edit slip/special job functions or details.
  1. Identifies suppliers with the capabilities to meet material and equipment needs for shop and field activities. Proactively follows up and resolves issues regarding material and equipment availability and delivery times.
  1. Establishes and maintains master lists for equipment and special tools as well as preventive maintenance and calibration schedules. Ensures preventive maintenance activities are performed as scheduled and testing equipment is properly calibrated.
  1. Maintains job folders reviewing for complete and accurate information. Verifies that all required documentation and records related to test equipment and calibrations are on file.
  1. Ensures shop area is clean and organized for efficiency by adhering to a “Setup, Do and Put Away” policy.
  1. Contains material costs by eliminating wasteful practices and implementing appropriate control measures.  Compiles and maintains inventory records of quantity, type, and value of material, equipment or supplies in stock.
  1. Ensuring test reports are completed, processed and reviewed on a timely basis.
  2. Takes corrective action with technicians as required.
  3. Is responsible for managing the invoicing process, and reducing errors and delays to optimize cash flow.

Talent Management

  1. Evaluates department talent base, conducts performance evaluations, identifies training needs, and recommends effective action plans for meeting performance expectations.
  1. Communicates regularly with senior leadership team regarding staffing needs, objectives, issues and open projects.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Oversees purchasing, shipping /receiving process and maintains S/R log.
  2. Ensures company vehicles are properly serviced and maintained.
  3. Maintains employee training schedule and coordinates training activities.
  4. Supervise process of master equipment list with calibration schedule
  5. Review technician weekly time report for accuracy.
  6. Attend company-wide production meeting and provide weekly production status report.
  7. Reviews monthly COGS report with Finance and identifies problems and errors.
  8. Utilize the experience of all resources in the company including corporate engineering.
  9. Develop and maintain an excellent working relationship with Florida sales team for technical support, management support, and the quoting and execution of jobs profitably.
  10. Assist with sales estimates and proposal review as needed.
